Passionate Bites
Rebecca Castaldini – Passionate Bites – Adelaide Fringe 2021 – Ep 004
Rebecca Castaldini / Eva Del Rossa
Living with a sleep disorder which turns the volume up on dreams to full-blown vision/hallucination status, has undoubtedly influenced EVA’s path to becoming an Artist, Producer and Director.
Finding inspiration in the Opera + Ballet La Sonnambula for her performance as the Sleepwalker whose nightvisions could tell you a thing or two.
The dreamy, fragile, ephemeral & ethereal being becoming increasingly actualised. For this show she blends mythology, archetype, neo-burlesque, contemporary movement & aerial, to explore lucid dreaming with her eyes wide shut.

SOMNIA
Don’t go to sleep, it’s the weekend!
Be our late-night guest.
SOMNIA is inspired by our producer’s journey living with Narcolepsy, which is a sleep disorder that “disrupts arousal”, every day, all day, and all night. Wait, let’s be more specific…
Symptoms include; Extreme & vivid dreams, night terrors, hallucinations, sleepwalking and pretty much being a champion sleeper at times when one ought to be awake.
The name SOMNIA comes from the Roman God of Sleep: His children are the Somnia/“Sleep Shapes” who visit during slumber. Sleep quenches the day, and prepares for the morrow. If we’re lucky, Dreams revive our soul or provide insight, but sometimes something else happens altogether.
Featuring a female-driven cast of aerial, burlesque and cabaret performers, we present a homage to the scenes our minds produce when our bodies are asleep. Wondrous, befuddling or disturbing, the night will always have its way with us.
There is no rest for the wild or wicked. Or for people with Narcolepsy, although they sleep a lot.
